"Why should I participate in a small group? After all, it's just a gossip group where people can tear you down and judge you."
Those were my feelings when I first heard of small groups and being accountable to others. It doesn't have to be that way. Small groups are intimate settings where we see each other as growing into the likeness of God through the work of the Holy Spirit. We challenge one another, pray for one another, grieve with one another, rejoice with one another, and celebrate God's faithfullness with one another. Contact the leaders and do not be afraid to ask them why the group is important to them, what the format is, what the purpose is, why they feel led to lead it, what has God done for them. Get involved in a group when you feel comfortable, and participate in the group when you feel safe. We pray that you find that safety in our midst as we travel this pilgrim journey together. Anyone can get involved in a small group at DRPC, there is no membership requirement to participate. To the right is a listing of the current and upcoming small groups that you can be a part of. |
